The Courage Of Common sense!

For MJC of Tourcoing

The local campaign accelerates. She has the merit to give a double intensity to exchanges which an elected representative can have with the inhabitants. On one hand, these are more notably numerous across house-to-house or meetings, and on the other hand, they are more exciting since they are at the same time questions and answers intended to feed a plan which takes a rewarding and more and more net form.

That's how I met the presidents of the Houses of Young people and of the Culture (MJC) of Tourcoing yesterday which announced me their concerns. These have a concrete aspect, to know budgetary difficulties, and a more philosophical aspect, since it is a question of safeguarding an ideal in popular education.

I always believed, for my part, in the very positive role of MJC and I have very good memories of accomplished job when I was Added in Culture with MJC of Orions. That is why I regret that the municipality accepts its disappearance and transforms the building which sheltered it in a place of stocking which has recently disappeared in fire. At the same time, they installed MJC of Francs in a building the operating cost of which was badly measured. The top floor, the nicest, is currently unusable and it is possible only to regret it. There is apparently in this domain a considerable effort to be fulfilled, a small revolution which would allow to rebuild the cloth of social welfare which Tourcoing could not preserve.

It is necessary to co-ordinate with equity the action of community centres and that of MJC. It is obvious that the difficult age of adolescence must be considered to be a priority of social welfare. It seems to me finally useful to study the recognition of MJC as community centres. It is what took place successfully in Halluin. Why he would not also be in Tourcoing, in the current frame, or in that of a new shape: single federated MJC or at least, three MJC but with much more of mutualisation of means.
