The Courage Of Common sense!

Tourcoing, the most expensive city of France

By Christian Vanneste 11 mar 2008 in In the press

The shouting of the taxpayerDIDIER DROART, town councillor of Tourcoing, is questioned in the weekly of the association Taxpayers associates, The Shouting of the Taxpayer. Remember, this association had classified me among the most active deputies to act for the defence of the taxpayers.

Didier comes back on the situation of Tourcoing. well hollowing-out always of actuality.

What is situation in Tourcoing ?

Situation deteriorated many years. A particularly high unemployment rate, 14 %, a very high tax rate, but the only 42 % are victims since others are underneath the threshold of taxation.
For a medium flat, you pay easily between 1 000 and 1 500 euro of council taxe. We are among the most expensive cities of France. Moreover some districts pose problems of security. Result : the tourquennoise population went down. She passed of 100 000 souls to 93 000. Many went to the small neighbouring villages.

Are these problems due to the sitting team ? Isn't it general situation ?

Certainly local situation is not good, but villages around us take out there better. We lost 5 000 jobs these last years. The city council, the community of villages, the department, the region are to the left. There are levers which they do not use.

And as regards the expenses of the city ?

Tourcoing is a city overequipped from the point of view with civil servants. There is 1 450, for a city of 93 000 inhabitants. There was a good hundred at least when we were 100 000. And the village saw some its competences transferred to the community of villages and to the region. It brought down not at all the number of local agents, on the contrary.
