Accoyer wants to punish the absenteeism of the deputies (The Barber)

By Christian Vanneste 25 seven 2008 in In the press

The president of the National Assembly wants to implement a disposition envisaged by the internal regulations.

Bernard Accoyer expressed on Wednesday his will to apply the internal regulations of the Assembly which envisage, in the article 162, a strict financial sanction against the deputies absent istes. This sanction, which was applied until now never, envisages a deduction of a third of the indemnification of function for the deputies who took part unless two thirds of public polls during a session. The article adds that if the same deputy took part unless the half of public polls, this deduction is doubled . The president of the Assembly thought on RMC that there is almost 5 % (on a total of 577 deputies) which come little and that its objective is to be able tomorrow to make sure to apply regulations which would keep a part of indemnification of those who would not participate in solemn polls and in job in committee . In the opposite, other UMP is very favourable to this way of struggling against parliamentary absenteeism. It will be probably necessary to come it, because it is always the same deputies who take their permanence in the Semicircular auditorium , Isabel Vasseur complains. ( )

Christian Vanneste judges rather logical proposal because, he says, the parliamentarians have to take their missions . But the deputy of the North admits, as his colleague, that it is not "constructive" to attend, powerless, in the debate on profit-sharing and participation, a text of five articles on which the socialists tabled 1 800 often identical amendments.
